Translation has been his passion from the day he was admitted to the English Department of University of Indonesia. He got his dream job as a translator immediately after his graduation at Business Advisory Indonesia. During his tenure at this company, he passed the Sworn Translator Examination and formally sworn-in by the Governor of Jakarta afterwards. He worked for that company for over 17 years with the last position as a Managing Editor, supervising a team of 12 translators and editors. After that, he became the Head of Translation Division at Penelitian Hukum Indonesia/Legal Centric Indonesia. Finally, he established ASJ Translation in 2017, jointly with his closest friends.

With more than 20 years of experience in translation, he has translated extensive range of legal, financial, technical, medical, corporate and personal documents. He has also assisted foreigners in dealing with court sessions and police interviews with his interpreting services. Jamil's experience in legal translation and interpreting has also been acknowledged with recent appointment as one of Examiners for the 2021 Sworn Translator Examinations held by LBI FIB UI.

In compliance with Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number 29 of 2016, on 5 October 2022, he took oath of office upon having been appointed as a sworn translator under Decision of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number AHU-16.AH.03.07.2022 dated 5 October 2022. Accordingly, his stamp and signature are acknowledged by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for the purpose of apostille.
